In advance of next week’s AU, our Cloud Platforms team has released a new version of A360. The key feature of this update is the ability to share and embed A360 models.
I uploaded a new model to my A360 account – it works with existing models, too, of course, but it’s nice to show something different – and can already see the new “Share” button at the bottom of the model’s description in the activity feed. (The button is also available at the top of the viewer screen and as an icon in the data view, in case.)
When you use the “Share Item” option, A360 brings up a tabbed dialog presenting the options for doing so.
To start with you can copy & paste a shortened link:
Next you can email a link to one or more recipients:
Both these options provide the ability to require a password and allow downloading of the model.
And finally – and this is manna for bloggers – you can generate the HTML fragment to embed the viewer directly in a web-page:
Once you’ve enabled sharing for a model, a comment gets posted automatically to the activity feed to say so:
The main column of this blog is 470 pixels wide, so I went ahead and adjusted the embedding code to make sure the model fits properly:
This is a really great way for people to share 3D content on the web. The consumer of the content doesn’t even have to know anything (even the existence of) A360. Give it a try!
